Sharing Cartoons with the World

Sharing Cartoons with the World from Jonathan Marks on Vimeo.

At SXSW, we had the pleasure to meet and have a quick interview on camera with the media "insultant" Jonathan Marks, Founder of Critical Distance in the Netherlands. His experience of more than 25 years in the broadcasting business has taken him to many exotic places around the globe including Austin, TX.

Marks is interested in the ways in which traditional and emerging media are used to share ideas across borders. He uses a relevant mix of video, audio and text to capture his stories. Operating on the edge of broadcast and mobile, Marks explores how emerging technologies enhance the effectiveness of digital storytelling in all corners of the world, and most recently in Africa.

To watch the video interview of Clive giving a demo of Pixton and Pixton animation (a world's first - coming soon!) on a 78" Promethean interactive whiteboard click on the video above. Enjoy!

Adventures of two saguaro cacti in the comic series 'Desert Funnies'

Laurel and Hardy, Jeeves and Wooster or Calvin and Hobbs are classic examples of a comic foil where one character is a well-informed and talented, and the other portrays a jovial and empty-headed one. What makes the humor in these pairings so ridiculously funny are the interactions between their drastically different personalities.

Grant Buist aka Brunswick on Pixton, a professional cartoonist and animator from New Zealand, takes this concept and creates the funniest pair of saguaro cacti you'll ever meet in his 3-panel series "Desert Funnies". Voted as the most popular series on Pixton and most frequently remixed by other members, this quick-witted cacti humor will keep you coming back for more. Read Brunswick's comics here.

Start your own series today, and you too could rise to the top of the charts! Sign-up is free!

What do Amish Technology, Checkers and Pixtonators all have in common?

BubbaMuski. This professional comedian/artistic director from Chicago has an eclectic sense of humor - to say the least. His Amish Technology series is a comical twist of how they interpret modern day techno-gadgets from flying saucers to the xbox.

It's hard to believe but comics aren't only about telling jokes. BubbaMuski puts a creative spin in his Checkers' series that almost send you off the board like it does his characters! If cyborgs are your thing, check out Bubba's Pixtonator. One question seems to remain - is he more human than machine?

Do you have a superhero you want to share with the world, but cannot draw? Start creating on Pixton now, sign-up is free!

Spanish comics take you on a 'fantastical' wild ride

Perro Volador or "Flying Dog" from Mérida, Spain explores the boundary between fantasy and reality in his comics. His unique compositional style tells a story by using colour and perspective in a subtle yet sophisticated way to draw out the true essence of the moment.

Pixton's automatic translation by Google generates subtitles on foriegn-language comics as you roll over the panels. So if Spanish isn't your native tongue, not to worry - you can still read Perro's comics. Click here to read more of Perro Volador's comics.
